The National Western Center project is a $1.1 billion, 250 acre project in the Globeville, Elyria and Swansea neighborhoods. The project will rebuild the Denver Coliseum and the Western Stock Show arenas and add parks, light rail access, and campus buildings for Colorado State University.

The City and County of Denver are supplying a majority of funding for the project, and the Council is considering a local hiring policy for the construction work for the project. The master plan and most of the funding has already been approved for the project, and the City is hoping to start construction in 2018.
